ABOUT FISHER FIGHT GEAR

Mark Fisher
Fisher fight gear is a small Maine based company that has been in the head of Mark Fisher for many years. He searched for years before he opened the business to find the right materials for his products. If they are not made here in Maine, he has searched the globe to find the best products at the best price. Our goal is to offer a top of the line product at a middle of the road price. Function and fashion are both important to us at Fisher Fight Gear. We want to offer you a high quality, rugged product that looks great. Our hope is that you will train in our gear at the gym because of the quality construction then wear it out because you like the way it looks.
ABOUT MARK FISHER
Mark Fisher has been training in the martial arts for over 30 years, starting out in very traditional styles and learning everything he could from his teachers, friends and books. A chance to take a seminar with some guys from Brazil he had never heard of changed everything. A year or so later he watched UFC#1 with friends and saw the guy from Brazil. It turned out that Royce Gracie was one bad ass dude. At that point he (and everyone else in the martial arts) knew he needed to find out more about Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He continued to train in the style he was in at that time (Kempo, his second official style) but looked for more info on jiu-jitsu any place he could find it. In Maine at that time there were no jiu-jitsu schools. Many schools knew they had to add a ground game to keep up. Soon a lot of schools offered some typ of ground fighting, most had no place doing so. After getting burned a few times mark found a true BJJ/MMA school in the Academy Mixed Martial Arts in Portland Maine. The owners Jay Jack and Amanda Buckner were true jiu-jitsu practioners and pro fighters. Mark fell in love with the school, atmosphere and the people that trained there. He stayed with the Academy for about 4 years but had to stop while get Fisher Fight Gear going. Right now he trains at his home when he can with whoever he can get to come train, but is hoping to get back to a real school as soon as Fisher Fight Gear is running smoothly. Mark likes to say "It's better to make a little money at something you love then to get rich at something you hate."
